Use of autoit for commercial purposes - (Moved)

Recommended Posts

Folks,

I have been using AutoIt since 2010 and I have found it to be an amazing scripting language but all of the work I have done is for my personal use.

While discussing with my colleagues, I have found that it's not that famous as compared to other application-based tools like Robotic Process automation etc.

whereas I see, AutoIt gives a lot of flexibility in terms of bring imaginations to reality.

Has anybody worked or known the application of AutoIt for commercial purposes, if yes, which organization are they.

Moved to the appropriate AutoIt General Help and Support forum, as the Developer General Discussion forum very clearly states:

Yes, me. Treat it as if it was opensource. The code can be had, as it is a script after all. C# would have a similar same fate in that regard.
Very many C / C++ applications get cracked so, just be mindful of how you code.

That is something I will not share and is not me alone that would not say a thing in regards to "what am I doing where and how". But do share chunks of code that could be useful to someone else, hence the participation in this forum.

Basis my environment, there are different tool for different automations but i personally feel AutoIt is powerful enough to the PoC level work.

I am not sure about the production level, that' why i wanted to take people's opinion about its usage in production or we have any challenge there.

Also, any idea, if AutoIt may be extend to Android/iOS automation in near future?

Depending on what you're upto, there are bugs. Say you PoC in AutoIt then you wanna do the same in another language and you're gonna find that is not the same. Therefore we write bugs because is not going to be the same approach ( all depending on what you're thinking of doing ).

There's a good example. Maybe FreePascal would be better, maybe C or Python or.,.., .

Think of what you wanna do. Then look for tools that are not going to limit your project. Develop based on that.
My 2 cents. I have no idea of what you are thinking of.
