Problem with FileExists

Is this a bug or is this me:

I use FileExists and it says a file does not exist, even though the file is there in the directory???

if FileExists($fromfile)=0 then
        msgbox(4096,"Info", "The file " & $fromfile & " is missing!")
        exit(10);
    endif

The file is 4 directories deep, don't know if that is relevant?

Any hints on why this is happening?

Further please post the value from $fromfile. Maybe there is something wrong with it.

Nope, just letters, the occasional. Except the string actually is bracketed by " - hm.. wonder if that is it.

That works.

Because the names are generated as part of a greater whole - I'm just adding error checks to prevent future problems.

Well the end result is a normal path, however as you said the problem were the quotes (the output will also be used for batch files where the quotes are required), I guess fileexists checks for a file with a " in it.
