No. Flag 8 removes all spaces from the string you provide.

If I'm not 100% sure I create a small test script and see what I get.

Why not try it? The output will (as you mentioned) be C:\ProgramFiles.

duh. thanks guiness. it still works inside of quotes... that blows... any way to remove whitespace from an array without wiping it from the middle?

$Line = FileReadLine (<your line>)

$Line = StringStripWS ($Line, 3) ; 3 apparently removes the WS from both ends at same time?

$ctrlarray = StringSplit ($line, Chr(44))

then you would think:

$ctrlarray[1] = StringStripWS($ctrlarray[1],3)

$ctrlarray[2] = StringStripWS($ctrlarray[2],3)

shame it doesnt work... any advice?

StringStripWS() with the flag set as 3 works, I can't really help you as I don't have the contents of the file you're reading. But just to confirm run this code >>

yea. i did. apparently it has trouble running flag 3 on the $ctrlarray. I made 2 seperate steps that do flag one, then next step flag 2. fortunately this is only a 2 piece array, but jw about future projects involving a 5 part or more array

This works fine for me. If you want help you need to post code I can run, not code that I will have to mess around with the syntax, for example you're reading a line from a file called <your line>, which I don't have and secondly this is incorrectly formatted in AutoIt anyway.
