Open File Using Handle

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question,

Is it possible to open a file using "FileOpen" however instead of using the file name, you use a file handle from earlier on in a script??

You have to use the filename to open a file.

A file handle is the return value of function FileOpen. So if you have a filehandle then the respective file is already open. If you closed the file then the file handle is invalid.

FileOpen($file, 9)

No, it needs a filename.

If you have already opened the file and gotten the file handle, why are you opening it again?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

No, to put it simply. But you might be interested in looking at this UDF if you want to retrieve the filename using a handle, but you must use this UDF only and NOT mix and match between native functions and the UDF functions.
