Strange bug: If Statement

Hi,

I have this code:

If (($ValueFromMain > $nVolumeDown) AND ($ValueFromMain < $nVolumeUp)) Then
  Return True
 Else
  Return False
 EndIf

For exampe: (I have a logger in my program so this values are from there, and they don't change)

$ValueFromMain = 95.4

$nVolumeDown = 92.82

$nVolumeUp = 100.69

Somehow it gives me FALSE (most of the times the "IF statement" work properly

Why it happens??

You are sure that all values are numbers? If you read those values from a file or a GUI they are strings and have to be converted to numbers.

If Number($ValueFromMain) > Number($nVolumeDown) AND Number($ValueFromMain) < Number($nVolumeUp) Then
    Return True
Else
    Return False
EndIf

Yes I read them from a GUI, probably it return it as a string

But how it can be that sometimes it works and sometimes not?

what is the best way to convert the string to number? with the number() func?

Use Number() as water said.

When your input is treated as a string comparison is done from left to right. Therefore "2" > "10" is true.
