delete a folder if older than X days

7 posts in this topic

Was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on the sections I need to read in the helpfile that will allow me to accomplish comparing todays date with the creation date of a folder.

Then delete that folder if the creation date is older than X days.

kor,

Look at FileGetTime (yes, it works on folders too), NowCalc or the various date macros, _DateDiff, and finally DirRemove. :)

If you find you need to get the various dates into different formats, you might like to look at my Date_Time_Convert UDF. ;)

Melba, I don't understand how to use your DTC UDF to convert _NowCalc() and FileGetTime into the same format so I can use _DateDiff()

_DateDiff() requries YYYY/MM/DD[ HH:MM:SS]

Which _NowCalc() properly outputs to

However FileGetTime ouputs in the format 20131026115355

Do you have a suggestion on how to convert FileGetTimes's output of

20131026115355

into

2013/10/26 11:53:55

here you have an example

#include "DTC.au3" ; http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/topic/154684-date-time-convert-initial-release-17-sep-13/

ConsoleWrite(_Main('20131026115355') & @CRLF)

Func _Main($sIn_Date)
    Local $sOut_Date = _Date_Time_Convert($sIn_Date, "yyyyMMddHHmmss", "yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm:ss")
    Return $sOut_Date
EndFunc   ;==>_Main

Working Code for anyone else:

#include <Array.au3>
#include <File.au3>
#include <Date.au3>
#include <_FileListToArrayEx.au3>

Global $iDays = 10 ; number of days to keep
Global $sCurrentTime = _NowCalc(), $sAvigilonPath = "C:\test" ; avigilon root path

$aRootFolders = _FileListToArrayEx($sAvigilonPath, "\A[^\W]", 106) ; RegExp filter removes $RECYCLE.BIN, full path, no return count, folders only
For $i = 0 To UBound($aRootFolders) - 1
    $aSubFolders = _FileListToArrayEx($aRootFolders[$i], "*", 42) ; full path, no return count, folders only
    For $n = UBound($aSubFolders) - 1 To 0 Step - 1 ; search array backwards to delete elements without subscript errors
        $aT = FileGetTime($aSubFolders[$n], 1) ; get creation time of each sub folder
        If Not @error Then $sCreationTime = $aT[0] & "/" & $aT[1] & "/" & $aT[2] & " " & $aT[3] & ":" & $aT[4] & ":" & $aT[5] ; convert time
        $iDifference = _DateDiff("D", $sCreationTime, $sCurrentTime) ; compare creation time with current time
        If $iDifference > $iDays Then ; if X days different
            ConsoleWrite("deleting " & $aSubFolders[$i] & @CR)
            ;DirRemove($aSubFolders[$n], 1) ; delete folder
        EndIf
    Next
Next
