Ubound array by columns?

12 posts in this topic

#1 ·  Posted (edited)

Hey guys. I've got some data that comes out a bit sideways. So now I need to Ubound an array by its number of columns instead of rows.

So far, I can't do that. I've attached a couple of images of what I am trying to achieve. The "sideways.bmp" file is the data before I do anything to it. The "almostthere.bmp" file is an array I create that I am trying to throw data from the first array into. However, I only get  5 rows of data. I hope what I am asking makes since.

almostthere.bmp

sideways.bmp

It's just playing around with For loops. Relatively easy to do if you have gotten this far.

Easy for you to say. I obviously don't see the solution.

Look at the second param in the help file, it allows you to select the dimension...which would be 2 for the 'columns'

UBound

Hi allSystemsGo

maybe something like this:

#include <array.au3>

Local $before[4][200] ; <-- change dimensions as you like

For $x = 0 To UBound($before, 1) - 1
    For $y = 0 To UBound($before, 2) - 1
        $before[$x][$y] = $x * $y
    Next
Next

_ArrayDisplay($before)
$after = transpose($before)
_ArrayDisplay($after)

Func transpose($source)
    Local $new[UBound($source, 2)][UBound($source, 1)]
    For $x = 0 To UBound($source, 1) - 1
        For $y = 0 To UBound($source, 2) - 1
            $new[$y][$x] = $source[$x][$y]
        Next
    Next
    Return $new
EndFunc   ;==>transpose

Well it's hard to know what code you used just by a picture. I don't create code based on assumption.

I tried this one, but never realized to use 2. The help file only mentions 1 or 0. Anyways, that has got me going. Thanks!

BTW _ArrayDisplay has a transpose switch, which is much better unless the transposed array is needed later.

O 'Rly?  That's kewl.

Your code reminded me of an ArrayTranspose UDF I crafted a while back and was suprised to see it pop up.

Edit

Actually I need the transposed array,

but still.
