gui and _isPressed not working

Hi all,

         Im trying to make my first gui project and have a bit of trouble.

my goal sis to have the gui display a box with static text (got that working) then when the user presses a number i would like a message box to come up to say it has been press then 5 seconds after do a task.

so i have the static box working, i have the _IfPress working but on separate script but when i join them it doesn't work. the only button that works with the _IfPress is ESC and that closes the GUI

script below

#include <Misc.au3>
#include <Constants.au3>
#include <String.au3>
#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

Local $hDLL = DllOpen("user32.dll")
LOCAL $msg
GUICreatE("Crew Control", 500, 300)
GUISetState( @SW_SHOW)
GUICtrlCreateLabel("Use the number pad to select the page you wish to send from list below", 10, 30)
    GUICtrlCreateLabel("Press Numeric keypad 1 key for task 1", 10, 60)
    GUICtrlCreateLabel("Press Numeric keypad 2 key for task 2", 10, 90) ;  line and next cell
    GUICtrlCreateLabel("Press Numeric keypad 3 key for task 3", 10, 120) ;
 Do
        $msg = GUIGetMsg()
     Until $msg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE

While 1

   if _IsPressed("61", $hDLL) Then ; Numpad 1
      MsgBox(2, "msg box", "text box", 5)
   EndIf
   if _IsPressed("62", $hDLL) Then ; Numpad 2
      MsgBox(2, "msg box", "text box 2", 5)
if _IsPressed("61", $hDLL) Then ; Numpad 3
      MsgBox(2, "msg box", "text box3", 5)
EndIf
EndIf

If _IsPressed("1B", $hDLL) Then
        MsgBox(0, "_IsPressed", "The Esc Key was pressed, therefore we will close the application.")
        Exit
     EndIf
     WEnd

thanks

I just do a repro to test for others members like MVP or Dev / Mod.

And I confirm that this look like a real problem - I mean bug.

But I'am not sure so I do not talk this in previous post.

I think your code structure is the issue as the While loop doesn't get executed until the Do loop has ended. Try something like this:

#include <Misc.au3>
#include <Constants.au3>
#include <String.au3>
#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

Local $hDLL = DllOpen("user32.dll")
Local $msg
GUICreate("Crew Control", 500, 300)
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
GUICtrlCreateLabel("Use the number pad to select the page you wish to send from list below", 10, 30)
GUICtrlCreateLabel("Press Numeric keypad 1 key for task 1", 10, 60)
GUICtrlCreateLabel("Press Numeric keypad 2 key for task 2", 10, 90) ;  line and next cell
GUICtrlCreateLabel("Press Numeric keypad 3 key for task 3", 10, 120) ;

Do
    ProcessKeystrokes()
    $msg = GUIGetMsg()
Until $msg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE

Func ProcessKeystrokes()
    If _IsPressed("61", $hDLL) Then ; Numpad 1
        MsgBox(2, "msg box", "text box", 5)
    EndIf

    If _IsPressed("62", $hDLL) Then ; Numpad 2
        MsgBox(2, "msg box", "text box 2", 5)
    EndIf

    If _IsPressed("63", $hDLL) Then ; Numpad 3
        MsgBox(2, "msg box", "text box3", 5)
    EndIf
EndFunc   ;==>ProcessKeystrokes

Another option would be to use HotKeySet, which will probably be more accurate and less resource intensive.

  • Solution

Or get rid of the unnecessary Do loop entirely and try it this way.

#include <Misc.au3>
#include <Constants.au3>
#include <String.au3>
#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

Local $hDLL = DllOpen("user32.dll")
GUICreate("Crew Control", 500, 300)
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
GUICtrlCreateLabel("Use the number pad to select the page you wish to send from list below", 10, 30)
GUICtrlCreateLabel("Press Numeric keypad 1 key for task 1", 10, 60)
GUICtrlCreateLabel("Press Numeric keypad 2 key for task 2", 10, 90) ;  line and next cell
GUICtrlCreateLabel("Press Numeric keypad 3 key for task 3", 10, 120) ;

While GUIGetMsg() <> $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE

    If _IsPressed("31", $hDLL) or _IsPressed("61", $hDLL) Then
        MsgBox(0, "", "Task 1")
    ElseIf _IsPressed("32", $hDLL) or _IsPressed("62", $hDLL) Then
        MsgBox(0, "", "Task 2")
    ElseIf _IsPressed("33", $hDLL) or _IsPressed("63", $hDLL) Then
        MsgBox(0, "", "Task 3")
    EndIf
    If _IsPressed("1B", $hDLL) Then
        MsgBox(0, "_IsPressed", "The Esc Key was pressed, therefore we will close the application.")
        Exit
    EndIf
WEnd

This allows either the numpad number or the normal top row number to initiate a task.

Thanks worked a treat. now that i have compared what i had to what you had i can see error of my way.

Glad it helps.

BTW, you could also throw the last _IsPressed check into the main If check by removing the EndIf from the first check, and changing the If to an ElseIf.

ElseIf _IsPressed("33", $hDLL) or _IsPressed("63", $hDLL) Then
        MsgBox(0, "", "Task 3")
    ; EndIf ; <<<<<<
    ElseIf _IsPressed("1B", $hDLL) Then ; <<<<<<<<<<<

        Exit
    EndIf

How to ask questions the smart way!

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.
