water
Welcome to AutoIt and the forum! Do you allow leading "0"s? I mean is "012"valid? water
Something like this? #include <MsgBoxConstants.au3> #include <StringConstants.au3> Global $sValue = "011" If StringLen($sValue) = 3 And StringRegExp($sValue, "\d\d\d", $STR_REGEXPMATCH) = 1 Then MsgBox(0, "Result", "Input is numeric and consists of 3 numbers!") guinness
Or StringLen() and StringIsDigit(). I also changed water's expression. #include <MsgBoxConstants.au3> #include <StringConstants.au3> Local $sValue = "011" If StringLen($sValue) = 3 And StringIsDigit($sValue) Then MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "Input is numeric and consists of 3 numbers!") EndIf ; An improved regular expression without the need for StringLen(). If StringRegExp($sValue, "^\d{3}$") Then MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "Input is numeric and consists of 3 numbers!") jchd
Maybe not so simple as it sounds as MSDN says: ES_NUMBER Allows only digits to be entered into the edit control. Note that, even with this set, it is still possible to paste non-digits into the edit control. To change this style after the control has been created, use SetWindowLong. To translate text that was entered into the edit control to an integer value, use the GetDlgItemInt function. To set the text of the edit control to the string representation of a specified integer, use the SetDlgItemInt function. Also it's unclear whether signs + - are allowed there. Should the OP insist on "3 digits exactly" I'd recommend either a hook to intercept character input on the fly (more complex but very strict) or a regex a posteriori (as strict but only after the crime has been attempted, not so pretty).
