Executable with variable for exe switch

6 posts in this topic

Hi all,

I'm very new to AutoIT, forgive the newbie questions you are about to see.

I'm trying to execute an exe, but i want to pass a variable to it that will answer a switch the exe needs.

psshutdown.exe -r -t 0 -u username -p password \\$variablehere

I've tried a lot of things but nothing seems to work. I've got as far as the exe launching but i don't think its passing the needed switches along.

The whole thing would look something like this.

#include <ButtonConstants.au3>
#include <EditConstants.au3>
#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#Region ### START Koda GUI section ### Form=
Global $UserGUI = GUICreate("tools", 366, 170, 192, 114)
Global $Userinput = GUICtrlCreateInput("computer number", 88, 8, 121, 21)
Global $Restart = GUICtrlCreateButton("Restart", 104, 48, 75, 25)
Global $setIP = "192.168.1."
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
#EndRegion ### END Koda GUI section ###

While 1
    $nMsg = GUIGetMsg()
    Switch $nMsg
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit

        Case $Restart
            $grabIP = GUICtrlRead($Userinput)
            $IP = $setIP & $grabIP
            "soemthing here to run exe?????"

    EndSwitch
WEnd

Thank you for your time!

Guys! i figured it out, thought id share!

So i threw my variables into a msgbox so i could view how they were being passed on.

from there i found i had to add the "\\" for the host name in the first variable i did

Global $setIP = " \\192.168.1."

after that i made sure my Variables after my exe had a space between them.

ShellExecuteWait("c:\psshutdown.exe",  $swiches & $IP)

and boom! its works! I'm so happy! I've been banging my head on he wall all day with this! hahaha
