IE - Detecting button by value sometimes fails

5 posts in this topic

Hello,

Could anyone help me understand why this loop fails to work on my clients PC and sometimes fails on my development PC.  Both are IE 11.

I am moving through six pages and each has the same submit button, the code works on some pages but not others.  Is there another way to automate the click of this button?

Thanks
Malcolm

; This is the HTML lifted from the page I would like to automate
;<input type="submit" value="NextPage" name="Submit">

;This code loops through all the input items and shoudl find the one with the label of 'NextPage'
;$ie is the Internet Explorer reference

$oButtons = _IETagnameGetCollection($ie, "input")
For $oButton in $oButtons
        $button_value = $oButton.value

        If $button_value == "NextPage" Then
            $c = 1
            sleep($sleep_time)
            _IEAction($oButton, "click")
            _IELoadWait($ie)
            ExitLoop
        EndIf
    Next

    if $c = 0 Then
        msgbox($MB_OK,"Debug","NextPage not found")
    EndIf

Please give some more information:

Windows Version, AutoIt Version, console output.

EDIT:
@Malcolmf Welcome to the forum.

EDIT: OffTopic:
Try this way of writing code:

........
........
........
_Click_NextPage($oIE)
If @error Then MsgBox($MB_ICONERROR, 'Debug', "NextPage not found" & @CRLF & _
        '@error = ' & @error & @CRLF & '@extended = ' & @extended)
........
........
........

Func _Click_NextPage(ByRef $oIE)
    Local $oButtons_coll = _IETagNameGetCollection($oIE, "input")
    If @error Then Return SetError(@error, @extended, '')

    For $oButton_enum In $oButtons_coll
        If $sButton_value == "NextPage" Then
            _IEAction($oButton_enum, "click")
            If @error Then Return SetError(@error, @extended, '')

            _IELoadWait($oIE)
            If @error Then Return SetError(@error, @extended, '')

            Return SetError(0, 0, 1)
        EndIf
    Next

    Return SetError(1, 0, 0)

EndFunc    ;==>_Click_NextPage

hi mLipok

I have added your code and I am getting an error in IE.au3  as follows

Quote

Line 1875 (File c:\Program Files(x86)\Autoit2\Include\IE.au3):
If
IsObj($oObject.document.GetElementsByName($sName).item($iIndex))
Then
If IsObject.document^ERROR

Error: The requested action with this object failed

This occurs on the 5th loop through my code ( The program reads rows from an Excel spreadsheet and then enters the data into a website)

Thanks
Malcolm
