prayags,

Please do not bump your own threads within 24 hours.

Remember this is not a 24/7 support forum - those who answer are only here because they like helping others and have some time to spare.  You just have to wait until someone who knows something about your particular problem, and is willing to help, comes online.  Be patient and someone will answer eventually.

Hi.

Use "$STDERR_MERGED" instead of "$STDERR_CHILD + $STDOUT_CHILD"

$DOS = Run(@ComSpec & " /c telnet india.colorado.edu 13", "", @SW_SHOW,$STDERR_MERGED)

Help files:

[optional] Controls various options related to how the parent and child process interact.
    $STDIN_CHILD (0x1) = Provide a handle to the child's STDIN stream
    $STDOUT_CHILD (0x2) = Provide a handle to the child's STDOUT stream
    $STDERR_CHILD (0x4) = Provide a handle to the child's STDERR stream
$STDERR_MERGED (0x8) = Provides ***the same handle for STDOUT and STDERR***. Implies both $STDOUT_CHILD and $STDERR_CHILD.

Regards, Rudi.

Hello prayags,

please reply in the thread, not as a PM (except explicitely asked to do so)

hi Rudi,

thanks for the reply,

but i am not getting any output.

i tried by manually disable the telnet service from Windows Add/Remove components

i need to check whether the telnet service is enabled or no in a system with windows 7 OS

Check for "telnet.exe" in the folder "C:\windows\system32"

If your compile your script for x86, use envget("sysnative") instead of @SystemDir, as @SystemDir then will point you to @SystemDir = C:\Windows\SysWOW64 when compiled for x86 on a x64 Windows PC.

When $STDERR_MERGED is used, you won't see any output in the CMD box. You will have to read it, as you speicfied above:

ProcessWaitClose($DOS)
Sleep(2000)
$Message = StdoutRead($DOS)

Try  option /k instead of /c and see, if you get any output there:

runwait(@ComSpec & " /K telnet india.colorado.edu 13")

Regards, Rudi.

hi,

Thanks for the help.

i am creating a tool which will distribute within teammates with their own workstations

1. first ping to server in the dropdown list

2. if ping successful , will check whether telnet service is enabled or no. and then login to server via telnet with username and password

( i was using cmd output to txt. it works fine for workstations having Telnet feature enabled. but my code does't work in workstations having telnet feature disabled.)

so i need help to capture any error like 'telnet' is not recognized as an internal or external command. before login to server if telnet featureis disabled

Hi again.

You also can use Fileinstall() to force a copy or telnet.exe e.g. to @TEMPDIR

telnet is not installed by default, you have to install it manually... btw, I don't suggest using FileInstall on telnet.exe because there *might* be restrictions which don't allow redistribution of telnet.exe

Hi.

You can use a 32-bit version of an "equal old or older" Win-Version and fileinstall that one to @tempdir and run it from there.

You also can use putty.exe (fileinstall() as well) with the command line switches to make it use TELNET communication type.

Regards, Rudi.
