djb22 Posted June 24, 2016 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Here's the working script. The problem I run into is that if Internet Explorer is already launched, it keeps launching new webpages. If IE is not launched, it works perfectly. I only want it to open a new webpage if the curser is inactive for X minutes. Can anyone give me a hand? ;This script will launch a webpage at the specified interval. Once the user types or moves the mouse, the webpage closes. #include <Timers.au3> $InactivityTrigger = 5*1000 ;inactive for 5 seconds(1 minute = 1x60,000) $PID = 0 While True $InactiveFor = _Timer_GetIdleTime() If $InactiveFor >= $InactivityTrigger And Not $PID Then $PID = ShellExecute ("iexplore", "http://www.google.com") ConsoleWrite("started" & @CRLF) ElseIf $InactiveFor < $InactivityTrigger And $PID Then ProcessClose($PID) $PID = 0 ConsoleWrite("stopped" & @CRLF) EndIf If Not $PID And Not IsFloat($InactiveFor/10) Then ToolTip("") Wend Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
djb22 Posted June 24, 2016 Author Share Posted June 24, 2016 This will be used in a classroom environment as a replacement screensaver. Our company wants a certain webpage to open after the students are inactive for 15 minutes, and close if they move the mouse or type on the keyboard. Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted June 24, 2016 Moderators Share Posted June 24, 2016 @djb22 First things first: if another IE window is open, what do you want the script to do? Close the open window and create a new one Open a second window and attach to the current one Open a second window independent of the current one Navigate to a site within the current window "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind. djb22 Posted June 24, 2016 Author Share Posted June 24, 2016 If another page is open, I'd like to open a new window independent of the current one. But if the mouse moves, close only the new independent window. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MichaelHB Posted June 30, 2016 Share Posted June 30, 2016 djb22, Actually you have 2 conditions to launch the IE. The cursor is inactive for x minutes. There is no other IE instance with same the website that you want to open in case of inactivity. Something like this maybe: #include <Timers.au3> #include <IE.au3> Global $iInactivityTrigger = 5*1000 ;inactive for 5 seconds(1 minute = 1x60,000) Global $iIdleTime, $oIE While True $iIdleTime = _Timer_GetIdleTime() If $iIdleTime >= $iInactivityTrigger And Not IsObj($oIE) Then $oIE = _IEAttach("google.com", "url") If @error Then $oIE = _IECreate("www.google.com") WinSetState(HWnd($oIE.HWnd()), "", @SW_MAXIMIZE) ConsoleWrite("started" & @CRLF) ElseIf $iIdleTime < $iInactivityTrigger And IsObj($oIE) Then _IEQuit($oIE) $oIE = 0 ConsoleWrite("stopped" & @CRLF) EndIf Sleep(100) Wend Exit Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
djb22 Posted June 30, 2016 Author Share Posted June 30, 2016 This seems like it'll do the trick. Every once in a whole I get this error. Any ideas what might cause this @MichaelHB? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MichaelHB Posted June 30, 2016 Share Posted June 30, 2016 Try this: #include <Timers.au3> #include <IE.au3> Global $iInactivityTrigger = 5*1000 ;inactive for 5 seconds(1 minute = 1x60,000) Global $iIdleTime, $oIE, $hWnd While True $iIdleTime = _Timer_GetIdleTime() If $iIdleTime >= $iInactivityTrigger And Not IsObj($oIE) Then $oIE = _IEAttach("google.com", "url") If @error Then $oIE = _IECreate("www.google.com") Sleep(500) $hWnd = _IEPropertyGet($oIE, "hwnd") If Not @error Then WinSetState($hWnd, "", @SW_MAXIMIZE) ConsoleWrite("started" & @CRLF) ElseIf $iIdleTime < $iInactivityTrigger And IsObj($oIE) Then _IEQuit($oIE) $oIE = 0 $hWnd = 0 ConsoleWrite("stopped" & @CRLF) EndIf Sleep(100) Wend Exit Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
