HTTP Xpath - how can I control my receiver with Autoit?

4 posts in this topic

I'm trying to write my own control panel to control som home appliances, starting with my Yamaha receiver. It uses the Xpath protocol, and I'm able to control it with Bash via curl. However I'm not sure how to port the same functionality to Autoit. For example, the following command will turn on the receiver:

curl 'http://'$ipaddr'/YamahaRemoteControl/ctrl' --data-binary '<YAMAHA_AV cmd="PUT"><Main_Zone><Power_Control><Power>On</Power></Power_Control></Main_Zone></Yamaha_AV>

The "dirty" way of doing it would be to just copy the bash script to the Windows machine and tell the Autoit script to open the bash script with Cygwin, but I'd prefer something more native. What Autoit functions could I use to send the same command?

I feel like there are a lot of ways to approach this. You could RunWait/ShellExecute the bash script through Autoit, kind of like you mentioned, which seems to be the most straightforward way of doing it. You could just write the command into the Autoit script so you didn't have to have an external bash script file on the Windows machine. It doesn't really seem that dirty to me.

I actually also found a cURL UDF that might be useful if you can install the libraries on the Windows machine.
