What is proper way to clear a RichEdit for reuse?

Is it simply _SetText to ""?

I have a control that I append to.  But, occasionally, I need to clear it ... "reset" ... and then append additional text.  For some reason, _SetText is deactivating after clearing.  I want to make sure I'm using the best method before I continue looking at the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You could try _GUICtrlEdit_SetText to clear it. If that still causes the same issue that next thing I'd think is just setting focus back to the Richedit control

Thanks for your response.

Turns out, it's a little more complicated than just "clearing".  The control is defined with _SetParaSpacing and _SetFont.  Those were lost with a simple _SetText.

What I've come up with is this sequence:

_GUICtrlRichEdit_SetSel($hRich, 0, -1, True)    ; select all, but hide
_GUICtrlRichEdit_ReplaceText($hRich, $text)     ; replace all
_GUICtrlRichEdit_SetSel($hRich, 0, 0)           ; set cursor to start

I've found that hiding the selection seems to eliminate the possibility of a momentary "selection flash".  I have never used the hide option, before.

I'll continue to test.

I'm using this scenario:

  1. _GUICtrlRichEdit_Create
  2. pre proccesing (creating templates)
  3. _GUICtrlRichEdit_StreamToVar
    1. LOOP START
    2. _GUICtrlRichEdit_StreamFromVar + processing
    3. _GUICtrlRichEdit_StreamFromVar + processing
      .........
    4. LOOP END
  4. _GUICtrlRichEdit_Destroy
