Loading x64 SQLite.dll version 3.25.3

Recommended Posts

I have a troubles (-1 on DLLOpen()) loading x64 SQLite.dll version 3.25.3 (fresh pre-built version from sqlite site). It's size is smaller than version 3.25.2 witch is loads just fine. Is only me, or something actually wrong with this dll?

Couldn't you try the built-in _SQLite_* functions to do what you're trying to do? :)

I have a script which has been working flawlessly until I upgraded to ver 3.25, then gave me unrelated errors...

Reverted to 3.24 and it's working with no errors, so.....

_SQLite_Startup($sPathTo_SQLiteDLL) giving @error = 1. The same with my actual startup function. DllOpen failing with error.

Func _SQLite_StartupEX2($sDll_Filename)

    $__g_bUTF8ErrorMsg_SQLite = False

    Local $hDll = DllOpen($sDll_Filename)
    If $hDll = -1 Then
        $__g_hDll_SQLite = 0
        Return SetError(1, 0, "")
    Else
        $__g_hDll_SQLite = $hDll
        Return SetExtended(0, $sDll_Filename)
    EndIf
EndFunc   ;==>_SQLite_StartupEX2

I'm not having errors in any working function/Query in any way, i'm cannot load library at all...

yes, 32-bit loads ok. I cannot try it with my script, as it x64, but _SQLite_Startup() example from help works normally

What is the DLL named?

According to the way AutoIt's SQLite functions work, if you're running 64 bit, it will tack on an unnecessary suffix to the file name.

If @AutoItX64 And (StringInStr($sDll_Filename, "_x64") = 0) Then $sDll_Filename = StringReplace($sDll_Filename, ".dll", "_x64.dll")

This is odd.  I use sqlite dll and sqlite.net dll (when encryption is needed) quite extensively.  I'm still using v3.24.0 because I only update my dlls when I can use a matching .net version.  The .net version is still at v3.24.0 so I'm still using the v3.24.0 version of the normal dlls.

Something is definitely wrong with the 64bit v3.25.3.  Given the smaller size of the 64bit dll, it looks like the 64bit v3.25.3 was possibly compiled and linked using incorrect switches and/or libraries.

SQLite v3.24.0 on a 64bit Windows OS:

  2. The 32bit dll loaded successfully with the 32bit autoit3.exe (expected)

SQLite v3.25.0 on a 64bit Windows OS:

  1. The 64bit dll loaded successfully with the 64bit autoit3_x64.exe (expected)
  2. The 32bit dll loaded successfully with the 32bit autoit3.exe (expected)

  2. The 32bit dll loaded successfully with the 32bit autoit3.exe (expected)

SQLite v3.25.3 on a 64bit Windows OS:

  1. The 64bit dll did NOT load with the 64bit autoit3_x64.exe (unexpected)
  2. The 32bit dll loaded successfully with the 32bit autoit3.exe (expected)

I updated my previous post with additional tests.  Looks like v3.24.0 thru v3.25.2 dll files are fine.  The 32bit v3.25.3 dll file appears to be okay too.  However, there does appear to be a problem with the 64bit v3.25.3 dll downloaded from sqlite.org.

After all this, it's nothing to do with AutoIt, and obviously nothing can be done to fix it with AutoIt. So this topic should be let to rest and go bother SQLite.org, or do the build of the DLL yourself from the source.

I totally agree with all of your points.  However, for some people, it is nice to know the root cause of an issue and to be warned that the most current version (3.25.3) of the 64bit sqlite3.dll has issues.

Like I said, it's been answered in full as to what the issue is, so anyone that needs it can find it. I just thought it would be a better thing to do with your time than rehashing the point ad infinitum. But, who am I to tell others how to spend their time :D
