hi all!

I am brainstorming possible ways to detect if a new message appears in a specific discord.

the clunky way IMO would be looking for a pixel change on the left. the red notification. any other ideas?

  • you might change $width or height
  • you might change title of your welcome & rules doscord with your title
  • you might use sharpen for image to be more clear,just add the below script after Local $hGraphics = _GDIPlus_GraphicsCreateFromHWND($hGUI)
Local $hEffect = _GDIPlus_EffectCreateSharpen(20,50)
       _GDIPlus_BitmapApplyEffect($hBitmap_Scaled, $hEffect)

Thanks! Can’t wait to try. I especially appreciate the idea of sharpening an image. I have had many reliability problems with tesseract and recognizing numbers on various color backgrounds.

@drrehak

or you need to download Tesseract.au3 in order to use this script below:(Tested in Win 10)

#include <ScreenCapture.au3>
#include "Tesseract.au3"

Global $aOCR_IMG_ORI
Global $tesseract_path = @ScriptDir & "\tesseract.exe"
Global $sPath, $aFileName

WinActivate("welcome-and-rules - Discord")
While 1
    $text= _SimpleTesseractScreenCapture(669, 470, 852, 641, 2)
    MsgBox(0, "", $text & @CRLF)
WEnd
Func _SimpleTesseractScreenCapture($left = 0, $top = 0, $right = @DesktopWidth, $bottom = @DesktopHeight, $scale = 2)
    Local $hGUI
    Local $giTIFColorDepth = 24
    Local $giTIFCompression = $GDIP_EVTCOMPRESSIONNONE
    Local $capture_filename, $ocr_filename, $ocr_filename_and_ext, $hBitmap2, $hImage1, $hImage2, $hWnd, $hDC, $hBMP, $hGraphic, $CLSID, $tParams, $tData, $pParams, $final_ocr

    ; create a temporary file for the screen capture and the OCR text results file
    $capture_filename = _TempFile($tesseract_temp_path, "~", ".tif")
    $ocr_filename = StringLeft($capture_filename, StringLen($capture_filename) - 4)
    $ocr_filename_and_ext = $ocr_filename & ".txt"

    ; Capture window
    $hBitmap2 = _ScreenCapture_Capture("", $left, $top, $right, $bottom, False)

    _GDIPlus_Startup()

    ; Convert the image to a bitmap
    $hImage2 = _GDIPlus_BitmapCreateFromHBITMAP($hBitmap2)

    $hWnd = _WinAPI_GetDesktopWindow()
    $hDC = _WinAPI_GetDC($hWnd)
    $hBMP = _WinAPI_CreateCompatibleBitmap($hDC, ($right - $left) * $scale, ($bottom - $top) * $scale)

    _WinAPI_ReleaseDC($hWnd, $hDC)
    $hImage1 = _GDIPlus_BitmapCreateFromHBITMAP($hBMP)
    $hGraphic = _GDIPlus_ImageGetGraphicsContext($hImage1)
    _GDIPLus_GraphicsDrawImageRect($hGraphic, $hImage2, 0, 0, ($right - $left) * $scale, ($bottom - $top) * $scale)
    $CLSID = _GDIPlus_EncodersGetCLSID("TIF")

    ; Set TIFF parameters
    $tParams = _GDIPlus_ParamInit(2)

    _GDIPlus_ParamAdd($tParams, $GDIP_EPGCOMPRESSION, 1, $GDIP_EPTLONG, DllStructGetPtr($tData, "Compression"))
    If IsDllStruct($tParams) Then $pParams = DllStructGetPtr($tParams)

Hi  @drrehak

I would suggest looking at the discord API.

https://discord.com/api/v9/channels/{channel.id}/messages

seems to be the endpoint you need, and you can add:

  Quote

?limit=1

to only get the latest channel message.

The only thing left for the endpoint to work, is a authentication token (for example via the Authorization header). Their API docs describe how all this works of course.

Its not my server. I believe to access the API I would need to own the server channel to get the token.

Not at all :)

If you got access, you can read from the API.

If you want to test this yourself, login via your browser open the web developer tools, go to the network tab and copy the value of your Authorization header from a XHR request.

I did this to verify that it works :)

the normal flow for getting the token requires you to register a developer application

you can read more about it here.
