WM_DROPFILES and #RequireAdmin, not work?!?!

Recommended Posts

WM_DROPFILES does not work if the program is compiled with the #RequireAdmin !!!

Try this:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WinAPIEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>

#RequireAdmin

Global $WM_DROPFILES = 0x0233
Global $Msg

Global $hForm = GUICreate('MyGUI', 400, 200, -1, -1, -1, $WS_EX_ACCEPTFILES)
GUISetState()

GUIRegisterMsg($WM_DROPFILES, "_WM_DROPFILES")

; Main loop
While 1
    $Msg = GUIGetMsg()
    Switch $Msg
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit
    EndSwitch
WEnd

Func _WM_DROPFILES($hWnd, $iMsg, $wParam, $lParam)
    #forceref $hWnd, $iMsg, $wParam, $lParam

    Switch $hWnd
        Case $hForm
            Local $FileList = _WinAPI_DragQueryFileEx($wParam)

            If IsArray($FileList) Then
                For $i = 1 To $FileList[0]
                    ToolTip($FileList[$i])
                Next
            EndIf
            _WinAPI_DragFinish($wParam)
            Return 0
    EndSwitch
    Return $GUI_RUNDEFMSG
EndFunc   ;==>_WM_DROPFILES

Yes, trancexx absolutely right.

On Vista and Windows 7 you can't send messages to a process with a higher integrity level. If your process is being run as administrator then it will have a higher integrity level than explorer and so won't accept the dropped files. You should use ChangeWindowMessageFilterEx() to allow WM_DROPFILES to be received from lower privileged processes.
