Hello,

My script was working and stopped a couple of days ago when our SMTP server changed.  I changed the hard coded SMTP ip address with the DNS name and I'm getting the following error:

Error! Mail failed with error code 50extended error: 0

Func _SendEmail($sUser, $s_ToAddress)

    Local $s_SmtpServer = "smtp-relay.domain.internal"
    Local $s_FromName = "Report"
    Local $s_FromAddress = "do-not-reply@a.com"
    ;Local $s_ToAddress = ""
    Local $s_Subject = "Security Report"
    Local $as_Body[4]
    $as_Body[0] = "Please review the account/s listed below:" & @CRLF & @CRLF & "UserName:"
    $as_Body[1] = $sUser & @CRLF
    $as_Body[2] = "Message." & @CRLF & @CRLF & "Thank you" & @CRLF & "Team"
    $as_Body[3] = @CRLF & @CRLF & @CRLF & @CRLF & @CRLF & @CRLF & "Report created on: " & _NowDate() & " " & _NowTime() & @CRLF & "On server: " & @ComputerName & @CRLF & "Program and logs located at: " & @ScriptDir
    Local $iResponse = _INetSmtpMail($s_SmtpServer, $s_FromName, $s_FromAddress, $s_ToAddress, $s_Subject, $as_Body, "","",0)
    Local $iErr = @error
    If $iResponse = 1 Then
        _FileWriteLog($hFile, "List: " & $sUser)
        _FileWriteLog($hFile, "Mail sent: " & $s_ToAddress)
    Else
        _FileWriteLog($hFile, "Error! " & "Mail failed with error code " & @error & "extended error: " & @extended)
    EndIf

EndFunc   ;==>_SendEmail

Hi @antmar904, did you check via PowerShell or other language / tools to ensure it's related to AutoIt or a general problem?

PowerShell pseudo code (example):

# DNS / Port check
nslookup smtp-relay.domain.internal
Test-NetConnection -ComputerName smtp-relay.domain.internal -Port 25
Test-NetConnection -ComputerName smtp-relay.domain.internal -Port 587

# Send
Send-MailMessage -SmtpServer smtp-relay.domain.internal -From "do-not-reply@a.com" -To "you@domain.tld" -Subject "Test" -Body "Test" -Port 25

Maybe this helps to identify your issue.

--------

Please also provide next time the AutoIt version which you use and the OS (Win11 / Windows Server ...) for reproductive purposes.

Best regards
Sven

Thank you.

I should have posted that I did use PS to test connectivity and was successful over port 25 and also was able to successfully send a test email via PS as well.

What does this line return when you add it to your script and is the returned IP addr correct for the smtp server?:

ConsoleWrite('@@ Debug(' & @ScriptLineNumber & ') : TCPNameToIP($s_SmtpServer) = ' & TCPNameToIP($s_SmtpServer ) & @CRLF & '>Error code: ' & @error & @CRLF) ;### Debug Console

The issue was how I formatted the email body as I was injecting extra line breaks.  Our new SMTP server was treating this a malformed data stream.

So your issue is solved? This also means that your initial assumption the change from IP to DNS name caused the issue was wrong.
Okay understood, thanks for your reply (explaining the reason).
