BinaryBrother Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I thought I remembered _IsPressed() having better performance if you loaded the DLL manually like, $hDLL = DllOpen("User32.dll") While 1 _IsPressed("Key",$hDLL) Sleep(100) Wend Rather than... While 1 _IsPressed("key",Default) Sleep(100) Wend Is that still true? Or was it ever true? I can't remember... SIGNATURE_0X800007D NOT FOUND
argumentum Posted October 5 Posted October 5 $hDLL = DllOpen(@SystemDir & "\User32.dll") While 1 _IsPressed("Key",$hDLL) Sleep(100) Wend Full path is better for security. 4 minutes ago, BinaryBrother said: Is that still true? MattyD Posted October 5 Posted October 5 (edited) There's theoretically a slight performance increase. User32.dll is already loaded in memory by autoit, so DllCall("User32.dll") won't completely load/unload the module - it'll just give you a another reference for the call. When we use $hDll we don't check if the dll is in memory, so there's a gain there - but its not overly significant. If a Dll is not in normally in memory (eg. wlanapi.dll or something), we should absolutely use DllOpen() for repeated calls. This avoids continuously loading/unloading the library into memory. If the performance gain in negligible then I guess I'll just use default. 1 hour ago, mLipok said: Why sleep(100) ? put there 10. That will cause too much CPU usage, this program will be running all the time. I'm intercepting the PrintScreen button, because the snipping tool doesn't always load when I hit printscreen for some reason. I found a bug in the documentation, where should I post it? I vaguely remember a bug-reporting platform for the help file. I found the trac. Edited October 5 by BinaryBrother SIGNATURE_0X800007D NOT FOUND

It would be a different story if you removed `sleep()` entirely.
