SMTP mailer - have copy in sent folder on server? Port refusal.

12 posts in this topic

This may be a dumb question but ...

I am currently using the ">Smtp Mailer That Supports Html And Attachments" by Jos (thank you Jos - cool script) to send emails from my script.  I am trying to ensure that a copy of the sent email gets saved to the server so you can see it in the sent folder.   I am using an account hosted by 1and1 for the email but am not on their Exchange server.  A copy does get saved to the sent folder when I do it from my phone.  The phone uses SSL (as does the script).  The only difference (and I assume it is important) is  the phone uses port 587 for SMTP.  This port is refused by the script which, as a result, uses 465 instead to send.   Is there any way to use that port 587 from the script?  Alternatively, is  there something else I should be doing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Happy holidays,

JFish

Are you marking ssl as true?

Common sense plays a role in the basics of understanding AutoIt... If you're lacking in that, do us all a favor, and step away from the computer.

I have

$ssl=1

Which I thought meant to use it.  Should it literally say "true"?

Edit: "true" does not work either :-(

"Error Code 2: Description: The transport failed to connect to the server" - is what I get when I use port 587

Your phone APP makes the copy into the SendItems, like Outlook does in Windows.

The actual SMTP sending of the email via your gmail account only send the it.

@Jos - thanks for the clarification on that.  Is there anywhere I can look to figure out how to make a copy into the SendItems so I can see it on in my webmail client OR does that require the use of a local client to send the message - meaning it is not possible from the script (which was suggested on another forum when I Googled "CDO.Message" and "SendItems")?

I am not aware but haven't researched it. You could always CC or BCC yourself so you have a copy in your inbox.

@Jos -  Yes, I have been using the BCC.  It is an application for my wife for her business.  I should have said "don't delete those"  because of course she did so I was just looking for an easy way to save them.  I think I may create another mailbox and BCC that one also for a comprehensive set of emails as a work around.

@Jfish

Try this.

Just wondering: How would that help creating an entry of the send messages in your Send Items folder or did I miss something?

@mLipok -

I may be mistaken but that appears to keep a copy of the email as a file locally.  Is that right?  If so, while useful, it is not really what I was looking for.  I was trying to find a way to store it back to the email account on the SMTP server so that it could be accessed from anywhere (as in what happens when you use your phone to send email).

      Folks,
      I have an issue I've been trying to solve for a while, I'm trying to add static routes in DHCP via a 121 route rule in Windows 2012 R2 is a brutal manual process and wanted to automate this via AutoIT.

      When I use the "ControlGetText" everything displays properly in the MSG box but when I try and use "ControlSetText" or "ControlSend" the values won't display in the input box but the action comes back as successful?
      Anyone able to help me with this? I'm thinking this might be an active window issue but i'm not sure.
      Here is a part of my code.

      $hWnd = WinWait("[TITLE:Add a Static Route]","", 10)
      WinActivate($hWnd)
      $Status = ControlSend($hWnd, "", "[CLASS:Edit; INSTANCE:4]", "192"); Does not add 192 to the text box.
      Local $sTextEdit1 = ControlGetText($hWnd, "", "[CLASS:Edit; INSTANCE:1]")
      ConsoleWrite ( "ControlSend Status: " &  $Status & @CRLF); Returns a Value of 1
      ConsoleWrite ( "ControlGetText Value Edit1: " &  $sTextEdit1 & @CRLF);

      Please see attachment for more info.

      I have a button control as below screen.

      This one I am able to suppress using below code in all the OS.
      But on server 2008, sometimes the button highlighted in the image is not getting clicked and some times it is working.
      I have cross checked the IDs when it is not working, but it is working only.

      $win1 = "erwin Mart Configuration" $MartConfigWindow = _WinWaitActivate1($win1,"Database Details") ControlSetText($MartConfigWindow, "", "WindowsForms10.EDIT.app.0.378734a6", $dbserver) ControlSetText($MartConfigWindow, "", "WindowsForms10.EDIT.app.0.378734a4", $dbname) ControlSetText($MartConfigWindow, "", "WindowsForms10.EDIT.app.0.378734a9", $dbuser) ControlSetText($MartConfigWindow, "", "WindowsForms10.EDIT.app.0.378734a8", $dbpassword) ;Button clicl logic $iControlClickStatus = ControlClick($MartConfigWindow, "", "[CLASS:WindowsForms10.BUTTON.app.0.378734a; INSTANCE:2]") ;If above button click fails, trying with mouse click on the control if ControlFocus($MartConfigWindow, "", "WindowsForms10.BUTTON.app.0.378734a2")=1 then ;sometimes above button fails in win server 2008,so this loop Send("{ENTER") EndIf
      Any suggestion on how to resolve this.?

      We can send mails using SMTP settings in AutoIT.
      But is there anyway to read the mails and start the program if we get the mail with the particular subject.

      I mean, I have automated a build process and it starts from windows task scheduler my autoit program at morning 3 AM.
      If it fails in the middle, it will be sent to the dev team guys with the logs as attachment.
      Then I am connecting manually to the remote machine to trigger the task again.
      Is there anyway to start this task once I receive a mail with the specific subject like "start the build" automatically.

      Is there any way to launch an application once I receive an email.
      I have an executable created in autoit and I am running it regularly on daily basis using task scheduler on windows.
      And sometimes I am running it again manually if someone asks to.
      Is there anyway to configure an email so that when I send a mail to that particular email ID then it should launch that exe directly?

      i am trying to figure out how a server can connect to a client Over the internet.
      In this is script. The client connects to the server on the same machine (localhost) and executes the commands from the client.
      How can I change that instead communicating over localhost to communicate over the internet with tcp ipaddress and a port.

      What i actually need help of is
      1. The server will open a port and  listen to communication from a No-ip address
      2. I input the no-ip address and correct port in the client side, and when i click on connect, it connects to the server if its online
