[Solved] ADODB.Connection issue with 3.3.14.5

I recently upgraded AutoIT from 3.3.12 to 3.3.14.5.

Running exactly the same code I now get this error:

We intercepted a COM Error !

err.description is: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.
err.windescription: Exception occurred.

err.number is :80020009
err.lastdllerror is: 0
err.scriptline is: 161
err.source is: ADODB.Connection
err.helpfile is: C:\windows\HELP\ADO270.CHM
err.helpcontext is: 1240655

If I use 3.3.12 again on the same PC I get no error so this rules out anything other than AutoIT.

The code I'm running is:

    $strCon = "Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle;Data Source=" & $DatabaseHost & "; user id=" & $DatabaseUsername & ";password=" & $DatabasePassword & ";"

    ; SELECT name, schema

    $ado = ObjCreate( "ADODB.Connection" )   ; Create a COM ADODB Object  with the Beta version

    With $ado
        .ConnectionString =($strCon)
        .Open
    EndWith

where line 161 is the .Open command

The connection is to an Oracle DB, version 11.2.0.4.0

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I'll have to revert back

• Btw Use AIT 3.3.12
• Compile your script
• Run it as you want
• Update to 3.3.14.5

Then now we can workarround. Not the solution, but you gonna be free to find where is come from the probleme.

The way COM errors are handled has changed! You now need a COM error handler. 

Can you please provide the full code you run?

or you are using 32《》64 bit version ?

Hi.

I had an issue where I just let the script run on another pc at work. But they should be all the same (of course they not). My solution was:

#AutoIt3Wrapper_UseX64=n

It is installed OK because I can run AutoIT 3.3.12 and it works OK. It is the 32bit version.

 

I'll have a look at your ADO.au3 udf

This is not a problem how you install AutoIt (btw. not "AutoIT")

The problem is ... if you are using Au3 x86 or x64 and if you have instaled 32/64 bit driver/provider.

Check which architecture you are using in AutoIt and in installed driver/provider - they should be the same.

Thank you all for you comments which have helped me to resolve the issue.

 

Running an AutoIt script directly was defaulting to the 32bit exe rather than the 64bit
