ControlCommand is not working

Hi all,

This is my code. It is giving me the currect line number but it won't give me the right line text.

Local $title = WinGetTitle("[CLASS:SciTEWindow]")

Global $Current_lineNumber = ControlCommand($title, "S", 350, "GetCurrentLine"," ")

Global $CurrentLine_Text = ControlCommand($title, "S", 350, "GetLine", $Current_lineNumber)

MsgBox(0,"", "Line Number is = " & $Current_lineNumber & " Text is =  " & $CurrentLine_Text)

You need to check if any of the functions you called has failed. Only if a function returns what you expect you should call the next function.

Means: Add error checking!

In my code, there are two functions. And first is giving correct result. Then what happened to the 2nd function ?. That's what i am asking. Anyhow, how can i add error checking ?  you mean using "@error" ?

Two ways to check for errors. Either the function sets @error and/or @extended to denote there happended an error or the returned value gives this information. Depends on the function you call.

Not sure why ControlCommand doesn't return text but this works:

Probably something to do with ControlCommand getting ansi text and scite being unicode.

Or something like that.

@JohnOne, I have tried with all type of encoding. But no way. When i check the variable $CurrentLine_Text's type , i got result  as Integer instead of string. Why ?

You should be using SciTE's DirectorExtension with SendSciTE_Command() and SendSciTE_GetInfo() as already suggested.

Look here to find out what commands you can use with the DirectorExtension, for an example of how that can be used, look at the SciTE toolbar linked in my signature.

If you look at the SciTE Jump source code you will see a UDF called SciTE.au3. This has the majority of functions you need to interact with SciTE.

Great. You need to call _SciTE_Startup() at the start of your script and _SciTE_Shutdown() at the end e.g.

_SciTE_Startup()
ConsoleWrite(_SciTE_LinesOnScreen() & @CRLF)
_SciTE_Shutdown()

guinness, I couldn't find the SciTE_Startup()  and _SciTE_Shutdown() functions in my SciTE Jump.au3 file.Is there any new version of that file ?. This file was last updated in 2014 April 14.

The functions are in the SciTE UDF as Guinness mentioned in post #15.

You carefully need to read the posts you get as replies to your questions

@water, guinnes told me that the function is in SciTE Jump source code. So i have searched in that file.
