Tidy error message line numbers are off by 1

I do not remember this happening in the past, as the error were in the console and I do not believe in the code. But there was a lapse in time, so I might not be remembering correctly.

 

And the error is still in the UDF, if you compile your scritp - it makes it real ugly for me, as I do not always know if it is new or old error.

Is it possible to add the command to clear bookmarks, prior to running Tidy?

I would only tidy a syntactically correct (Au3Checked) source. But maybe I didn't read all related posts fully.

The problem is the ERROR is fixed, but the error does not go away after compile?

Tell me the exact steps to simulate your issue please so I fully understand what you are looking at.

I created a main script. I created a UDF. I make a syntex error in the UDF, and compile the main script.

Once the error is found the document (UDF) is brought up with the error in both the console and the code.

If I fix the error (syntex error in UDF) or do not fix the error (in UDF) and try to Tidy the UDF, either it works, or it does not - keep trying (saving each time and going back to the main script to compile) - if it does not work, you can clear bookmarks and it will remove error in the code section of Scite, but

If Tidy does not fix issue after being ran, as it shows ran in the console section of Scite. Then I have tried to compile the main script, after compiling it go back to the UDF, you will still see the error listed.

 

Let me know if you do not follow and I will try again - my scripts size is (main = 1400+ lines, UDF = 1100+ lines) - not sure if that is making a difference or not?

Took me a couple of time re-reading your last post but understand the scenario now. The errors are only cleared in the window being action and not in any other open file.

Not sure how easy this is to clear other then you doing Ctrl+F5 on the file that has the errors, which I tend to do normally.

Yeah, that does my UDF no justice at all, as some of the global variables are coming from other UDFs, and some of the functions that I call from the UDF are in my main script. It might be a design issue, but my main script has been made as a default (meaning it has the same info for different companies), and I use my UDF for each company, so when that customer leaves, I just remove that UDF and remove the Include from my main script?

I guess the bookmarks option is the best, as it is better than deleting a line and then hitting enter - would be faster.

Just to clarify...this feature is new, putting the error into the code - correct? As I do not remember it happening before, but my mind plays tricks on me (getting older)

It is standard for quite some time now but when you want you can switch that off by setting this in your SciTEUSer.properties:

error.inline=0

That file should be located in the scite folder - correct? Mine is only 1kb and has two lines?

import au3.UserUdfs
import au3.keywords.user.abbreviations

But I added it and saved it, but still have the same issue.

By the way, was anyone else able to repeat what I am seeing?

I even closed and reopened scite - same issue

Just select it in the SciTE Options menu dropdown when you are not sure, but that could be it/

Yeah, I tried that first, but it is not there...the only 'S' i have is for sql.properties - should I be looking somewhere else?

Tidy is ran by itself and doesn't trigger any clearing of the inline errors in SciTE. This only happens when you do the next au3check as that uses autoit3wrapper which send the SCI_ANNOTATIONCLEARALL each run. Can see to have Tidy also send that command to the SciTE director interface, but this would be something new.

In menu "Tools" there is 'Trace: Remove all trace lines' 

Can you add here a new tool:  "Remove all Inline messages" from  all opened files

Just tried, and for me the In-Line errors disappear as well when Tidy is ran, so am not sure what is there to fix?

Sure that is possible with something like this:

That worked for me...it is in a different location - appdata folder
