I'm trying to use ControlSetText in AutoIt to input text into the "Name" and "Fuzzy Name" fields on this web page:
👉 https://www.trade.gov/data-visualization/csl-search

However, it doesn't seem to work. I suspect it's because the page uses modern web technologies (JavaScript-based elements), and maybe ControlSetText can't interact with them properly.

I tried inspecting the elements and using their IDs, but I'm still stuck. I'm very new to this, so I'd really appreciate any help or guidance. Here's the code I'm working with:

The web ID and class text for the elements section are as follows:

<input type="text" class="explorer__form__input" id="name" name="name" value="">

----------

#include "WinHttp.au3"
#include <AutoItConstants.au3>

;<input type="text" class="explorer__form__input" id="name" name="name" value="">

; Open the browser and navigate to the URL
Run("C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe https://www.trade.gov/data-visualization/csl-search")
WinWaitActive("CSL Search") ; Wait for the window title

Sleep(5000)

; Try to set the text in the "Name" field
ControlSetText("CSL Search", "CSL Search - International Trade Administration", "name", "Kromlüks")

Sleep(500)

Dear Nine,

The reason I created another post is that I wanted to discuss and exchange ideas specifically within the help/discussion area regarding the UDF you mentioned.

As you suggested, I included #include "WinHttp.au3" in my script. However, as seen in the scenario I shared, the script doesn't progress — possibly due to a missing element ID or another issue. Specifically, no text is being written into the name field.

I’m wondering if I might not have installed or used the UDF correctly. I downloaded version 1.6.4.1, extracted the ZIP file, created a new .au3 file in the folder, and wrote my scenario there. This is the stage I’m currently at.

At this point, I have two main goals:

  1. To understand how to properly set up and use the UDF.

  2. To learn how to write text into a web element using a known element ID.

I can currently perform the task using Send, Tab, or MouseClick, but these methods can be unreliable at times. That's why I’d prefer to work with element ID if possible.

Could you kindly assist me with this? I'd really appreciate your help.

Thank you and best regards.
